Collins Mobile Coverage Explorer

Collins Mobile Coverage Explorer is a vector dataset representating the area covered by mobile communications around the world. The data is created from submissions made directly to Collins Bartholomew or the GSMA from mobile operators in order to provide roaming and coverage detail for inclusion in Collins Mobile Coverage Web.

The data is made available in ESRI shapefile format in WGS84 datum. Polygons representing the network coverage have been split into country areas using the country polygons from the Collins World Explorer vector product. Polygons are supplied as multipart, and include any country ISO or FIPS codes where known.

  • CNTRY_CODE (a unique numerical identifier for each country)
  • COUNTRY (country name, in English)
  • CNTRY_ISO (a unique numerical code based on the ISO 3166-1 standard)
  • CNTRY_ISO2 (a unique alpha-2 code based on the ISO 3166-1 standard)
  • CNTRY_ISO3 (a unique alpha-3 code based on the ISO 3166-1 standard)
  • CNTRY_FIPS (a unique alpha-2 code based on the FIPS 10-4 standard)
Collins Mobile Coverage Statistics

Collins Mobile Coverage Statistics is a spreadsheet showing the percentage land area and population covered by GSM (2G) and 3G mobile network coverage world-wide. Each record is by country and the values have been derived from Collins Mobile Coverage Explorer. The data is made available in Excel or CSV format on a world-wide basis only.
