Mobile Coverage Maps

Mobile Coverage Explorer

Collins Bartholomew is proud to be the official mapping partner of the GSMA, providing a range of mobile coverage map products and services on their behalf.

Each year we receive hundreds of coverage map submissions from Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) from around the world so we can provide the coverage map service on the GSMA’s website; Mobile World Live. This puts us in the enviable position of having access to mobile coverage data from an authoritative source that we can process to provide a map dataset showing aggregated 2G (GSM), 3G and 4G (LTE) coverage on a global basis.

We are currently updating and releasing Mobile Coverage Explorer annually at the beginning of each calendar year. Each update is based on all the coverage data submissions we have at the end of the previous year. This update cycle means that we are also able to provide historical coverage information stretching back several years.

Mobile Coverage Explorer is most commonly provided in ESRI shapefile format in WGS84. Other formats may be available on request. Polygons representing the network coverage have been split into country areas using the country polygons from our World Explorer vector map data product.
